The NOPHOTO collective received the prestigious Revelation Award from the PHotoEspaña 2006 International Festival of Photography and Visual Arts in recognition of its developing career since the collective was founded one year ago. The award, which demonstrates the influence that the NOPHOTO collective’s appearance has had on contemporary photography in Spain, constitutes the first time the prize has been granted to a collective instead of an individual photographer.

OjodePez magazine on documentary photography invites the NOPHOTO collective to collaborate as special guest editor of its seventh issue. Matías Costa and Juan Valbuena, members of the collective, selected fourteen individual works from the fourteen NOPHOTO members to accompany several other texts assigned especially for this publication. The issue offers an approach to current documentary photography from the individual perspective of each photographer: “Celebration” by Tanit Plana, “The Modlins” by Paco Gómez, “In This Life” by Juan Millás, “Normandy, the Landing Shores” by Eduardo Nave, “El Pardo (Royal Palace)” by Carlos Sanva, “Quo Vadis” by Carlos Luján, “Still Life” by Juan Santos, “Blue” by Juan Valbuena, “Handwritten Notes” by Eva Sala, “Radiochina” by Jorquera, “Just Like Home” by Matías Costa, “A Chance for Love” by Marta Soul, “Pathetic” by Iñaki Domingo and “The End of Our Memory” by Jonás Bel.

The NOPHOTO collective documents THE NIGHT OF BOOKS, an event organized by the Autonomous Community of Madrid that celebrates literature with panels, readings, conferences and activities in the streets, complemented by visiting hours extended until midnight at the city’s most important libraries.
The results from the assignment are compiled in a book published by Chema Conesa for La Fábrica.
