This is the size of a motor block for “almost” a motorbike. To be a motorcycle and not a moped, an engine must have a cylinder of 50 cubic centimeters or more.
This project links the practically unrelated concepts of the moped and adolescence in the Iberian Peninsula. The moped (almost a bike) is the minimal means of transportation approved by current traffic regulations. In the same way an adolescent (almost an adult) in transit towards maturity begins to be recognized by the rest of society as a socially independent being.
The moped underscores the proximity of entering into adulthood, opens up possibilities for mobility allowing youth to distance themselves from the family epicenter with autonomy, acts as a catalyst for social relationships generating a feeling of belonging to a specific group, and redefines public space in a spontaneous, relational context particular to the group.
